Carbon Footprint Information & Calculators
The Howarth Timber Group has always been at the forefront in ensuring that, as a company, we look to save energy when ever we can.
The Group constantly reviews and looks to develop the way materials are sourced, delivered and produced in an effort to ensure our own carbon footprint is reduced and the impact we make on the environment is a more positive one. Various energy saving initiatives have recently been implemented within all divisions within the Group and it is our intention, whenever we are in a position where we can improve these and save energy, to do so.
The overall effect we hope will be to reduce our company's impact on Global warming and support the governments own initiative.
Small business carbon footprint calculator
Howarth Timber & Building Supplies are, therefore, encouraging all of the small businesses who we supply or who supply us to calculate their own carbon footprints and explore ways of reducing their own impact on global warming.
The following link will take you to BT'S carbon calculator found on the company's web site. This calculator will enable office based businesses to calculate their annual CO2 emissions at any point in time, based on the fuel consumption at the office and the travel patterns of their staff.

Act on CO2 - individual or family carbon footprint calculator
The government is seeking to make Britain a world leader in tackling Global Warming. However, there is still a lot of confusion about what people can do and how effective those changes actually are in reducing CO2 emmisions. Householders are being urged to step up their personal battle against climate change by using a new government eco-calculator.
The device can work out individuals or households green profiles and offers personalised action plans to help cut emmisions of harmful greenhouse gasses by at least 20 per cent. From this you will be able to work out your carbon footprint by inputting details of the energy you use and means of transport you take.
The calculator is divided into three sections.
-
Appliances - size and type of TV, do you have a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge? How much do you fill the kettle, do you hang out clothes or use a tumble dryer?
-
Home Heating - type of boiler installation and fuel.
-
Transport - if you have a car, what size engine does it have? How often do you fly?
The Act on CO2 calculator is a good way for people to work out the impact of their actions and identify the best way to reduce their own and families Carbon footprint.
The Howarth Timber Group supports this initiative and encourages all our suppliers and customers to take time out to review your own impact on the environment.
