Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Rochdale, which recently acquired the timber merchant Fletcher Bolton from Timbmet, has just announced an investment of almost £½m in the Milnrow Road site, which means the town’s builders and DIY enthusiasts will benefit from substantially increased product ranges alongside several new facilities.
A major refurbishment of the shop, storage sheds and office accommodation will commence shortly, creating more space for Howarth Timber & Building Supplies’ vast ranges of timber and heavy side building materials including bricks, blocks, sand and cement. Alongside this will be a wide selection of lintels, plasterboard products, insulation materials and Velux windows - as well as the extensive array of timber products associated with the largest privately owned timber merchants in the UK.
Paul Barton is the recently appointed general manager of Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Rochdale. “Since we bought the business in February, we have been considering how we can make best use of this high profile site and our decision is to broaden both the number and kind of products we offer, including establishing a well stocked door and floor showroom that really will be the talk of the town!”
Paul, 37, is no stranger to merchanting in the northwest. Previously, he was branch manager for Howarth Timber & Building Supplies’ branch in Bury and retains responsibility for both this branch and Howarth’s new facility in Rochdale.
The redevelopment of Howarth Timber & Building Supplies (Rochdale) Ltd will begin shortly and work will be completed by August. During this time the branch will continue to trade as usual.
