LOCAL BUSINESS UNDERLINES ITS COMMITMENT TO CONSTRUCTION

18/06/2008

Howarth Timber & Building Supplies has underlined its commitment to Malton’s builders and DIY enthusiasts by constructing a £100,000 storage shed, which now houses considerably greater ranges of timber and home insulation products.

The building, which links the retail shop with the existing warehouse, now means that Howarth holds larger stocks of insulation products, decorative sheet materials, plywood, MDF mouldings, and hardwood and redwood products at its store on Showfield Lane.

“The market has noticeably declined because of the slowdown in housing sales, but our figures confirm we’re bucking the trend,” said manager Ashley Greaves. “We’re confident in our ability to supply the best timber products, and this underlined the decision we made to invest in our branch.”

A new showroom is being planned for bedroom furniture, which will be located next to the branch’s soon-to-be refurbished kitchen showroom, and there’ll be a comprehensive display of hardwood and softwood doors. Externally, a new garden and fencing display will house an exciting array of archways, arbours and decorative fence panels.

“We’re really pleased that the money we’ve spent is paying dividends for the business, which is allowing us to reinvest across the branch,” added Mr Greaves.

The Malton branch of Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is part of the Howarth Timber Group, the UK’s largest privately owned timber company. The business encompasses a network of timber and builders’ merchant branches, Howarth Windows & Doors and Howarth Timber Engineering.
