Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Rochdale, which acquired the timber merchant Fletcher Bolton earlier this year, has just completed a £½m refit of the Milnrow Road site - and created six new jobs in the process.
A major refurbishment of the shop, storage sheds and office accommodation is now finished, meaning more space for Howarth’s vast ranges of timber and heavy side building materials.
Paul Barton is general manager of Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Rochdale. “When we bought the business in February, we looked at how we could make best use of the site. Now those plans have come to life, and we’re all delighted with the result!”
Howarth’s investment has funded the development of the store and showroom, which now features bigger than ever ranges of timber flooring products and door displays. Alongside this are new offices and, externally, the larger and improved sheds have been equipped with better machinery for cutting and forming timber to customers’ specifications.
Elsewhere, Howarth has also just concluded a deal to sponsor Rochdale AFC, and a corporate facilities at Spotland has been renamed ‘The Howarth Timber & Building Supplies Lounge.’
“The people of Rochdale have supported us over the last six months of redevelopment,” added Paul. “We wanted to say thank you and so, with the agreement of my colleagues here at the branch, we decided to support the town’s football club. Throughout the country, Howarth branches are local companies supporting local people and local businesses – and here at Rochdale we’re no different!” Howarth Timber & Building Supplies is part of the largest privately owned timber merchants in the UK.
