NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION WINNER FROM HOWARTH TIMBER Glyn Dring a timber operative and grader from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, Mansfield branch has won one of the prizes in the National Photography competition ran by the BBC Television program Countryfile. Glyn who has been a keen amateur photographer for most of his life, with 11,000 other hopefuls, entered the competition with his photograph of a Dragon Fly taking off in a local quarry. The judges Lord Litchfield, Jo Brand, John Craven and Chris Packham chose Glyns photograph as one of the 12 to be included in the 2005 Country File Calendar sold in aid of the BBC’s Children In Need Appeal. From these 12 pictures, Glyn’s was chosen as the overall Judges choice. Glyn has worked for Howarth Timber at the Mansfield branch for 6 years and it was here where the BBC decided would be a suitable place to surprise him with the news of his award. Collusion between Mansfields manager (Peter Anstey) and the BBC on Wednesday 27th October lead to Glyn being surprised by a television crew and Ben Fogle (TV Presenter), who presented him with his award and holiday vouchers. The event was broadcasted on television on Sunday 31st October and Glyn though surprised is delighted with his award and looks forward to seeing his picture in print. Howarth Timber would like to congratulate Glyn on this outstanding achievement.
