Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster

Izonil was established in 1991. When the company acquired its current plant, new and modern objectives were defined by the owners and the management. From this time, not only the production of high-quality building products, but also the improvement of traditional building materials have characterized the Plant. Since then, Izonil’s main goal have been to identify and develop conventional products in order to introduce outstanding solutions – in a simple way.

Izonil believe that the greatest solutions are inspired by simple ideas. They strive to preserve the simplicity of the application process thus making products that are available for the general public as well. Their goal is to improve traditional building products in order to satisfy the modern construction industry’s high expectations

Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster.

Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster is a high quality, cement-lime based, fibre reinforced,

  • water and damp proof
  • vapour and air permeable
  • rendering and plastering mortar. ( EN 998-1)

Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster is an industrially manufactured dry mortar requiring only the addition of water on site. Walls treated with Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster become waterproof from both sides and remain air-permeable, thanks to the Izonil waterproof admixture and the product’s porous structure. Izonil Waterproof and Breathable does not contain any chemically harmful or flammable ingredients, therefore it is environmentally friendly.

Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster is designed for renovating and waterproofing old and heritage buildings, cellars and basements. The product provides professional solution to the problems caused by rising damp, or any moisture related problems in conventional masonry, cob walls and wood laths.

Especially suitable for plastering bathrooms, showers, wet-rooms and swimming pools, orn rendering external walls, facades and plinths. It also considerably reduces damages caused by flood or inland waters. Suitable for restoration, repairing as well as new render work and because it is a fine-grade mortar, it can be applied as undercoat and finish coat.

Coverage: 1.2 kg/m2/mm

Millions of pounds are spent on the renovation of old and damp buildings in the United Kingdom, therefore a great many companies have specialized in this field. Professional solutions are usually costly systems consisting of more steps/layers (more than 100Ł/m2). Such solutions are provided by membranes, injection and renovating plaster/render systems.

These systems have to solve the following problems:

  • Waterproofing
  • Prevention of salt-effloresence
  • Guarantee air-permeability
  • Cheap (liquid) waterproofing additives do more harm than good, since they are not at all breathable.

The main adventages of Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster.

Cost effective, more than 70% cheaper than other multilayer solutionsQuick, rendering and waterproofing in one single stepSimple, conventional application Environmentally friendly, does not contain bituminous or chemical ingredients 10 years’ guarantee on water resistancy

Functional background of Izonil Waterproof and

Breathable Plaster.

Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster is a result of years of R+D. The unique properties of the product are thanks to the hydrophobic admixture, developed by the Izonil research team, that  makes each component particle (ie. sand particles) in the mortar hydrophobic. In turn the solidified plaster retains its porous stucture and air-permeability.

Once solidified, Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster becomes completely waterproof and water cannot permeate through it.

Depth of water penetration of hardened mortar: ≤1 mm, EN 1015-18 Thanks to the air-permeable qualities, the moisture previously trapped in the masonry can evaporate through Izonil Waterproof and Breathable Plaster, therefore even extremely wet walls are allowed to dry out. Water vapour diffusion resistance coefficient (μ): 12.4, EN 1015-19Salts secreted from rising damp are stored within the solid plaster.
