Washroom Cubicles
A new range of DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant washroom cubicles has been launched by Pendock and is available from Howarth Timber and Building Supplies with next day delivery available on all standard products.
The Rapide cubicles range has been re-engineered by the company to include new reversible hinges, higher specification indicator bolts and ‘seamless’ split partitions for easier handling and fitting on site.
Also, the choice of standard colours includes contrasting pilasters to comply with DDA legislation for use by people with impaired vision and a simple to fit reversible hinge design to allow any door to open outward for ambulant disabled access, also required within the DDA.
Manufactured from melamine face chipboard (MFC), the cubicles are available in a choice of two standard colour schemes, including contrasting ironmongery and pilasters, along with a range of special colours, which can be supplied on request. Rapide cubicles for ‘between walls’ installation are also available within the range and are made to order when site dimensions are provided.
Paul Hetherington, Pendock’s Managing Director, explained: “The new Rapide range has been designed to make it simple to comply with the DDA requirements, which state that if installing one washroom cubicle, it must be suitable for ambulant disabled access. Many people are still unaware of this requirement or the fact that he DDA also requires contrasting colours to be used for people with impaired eyesight.”
He added: “We’ve not only met these needs, but also developed a virtually seamless split partition design which makes handling and installation easier, whilst improving the appearance of the finished cubicles, by doing away with unsightly jointing strips and plastic channels.”
Dimensions for the standard Rapide cubicles are 1520mm deep from the door to back wall, 1970mm high, including the height of adjustable legs, and 825mm wide between cubicle centres.
