Xtratherm Insulation

Xtratherm Thin-R is a foil faced Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board suitable for use in floors, walls and roofs. Thin-R is formed by a blowing process which generates a rigid foam composed of fine, gas filled bubbles: it is those bubbles, along with the efficient Low Emissivity foil facings which give Thin-R its superb insulating properties.


Available now from all branches of Howarth Timber and Building Supplies the high thermal performance of Xtratherm Thin-R allows excellent U-values to be achieved with minimum insulations thickness’s. A wall cavity, for example, insulated with Xtratherm Thin-R can be 50mm thinner than one insulated with mineral wool.

Xtratherm launch Rafterloc width variable pitched roof board.

Xtratherm, manufacturers of Thin-R high performance rigid insulation have launched a new product aimed at saving time and reducing waste when insulating sloped rafters in attic conversions to meet the new Building Regulations.Ideal to use with Thinsulex the multifoil roof underlay from Web Dynamics.

Xtratherm Rafterloc boards are pre-cut to size for use between rafters in pitched roof construction and have a unique width variation feature offering a 20-30mm adjustment margin to ensure a tight fitting, high performance system.

A second layer of Xtratherm XT/PR Pitched Roof Board can be placed below the rafter to provide a ‘Robust Detail’ and because of Xtratherm’s high thermal performance to thickness ratio, very efficient U-values can be achieved with minimal intrusion into valuable living space.
