Range Of Finishes
A range of finishes with built-in high performance, endurance and quality.
Howarth offers a co-ordinated suite of fully finished windows providing the discerning builder with the superior looks and performance obtainable only from timber. The windows are fully decorated, glazed and cling film wrapped within a purposebuilt, quality controlled factory environment at New Holland.
Windows are manufactured using specially selected laminated components and fully decorated, using the very latest vapour permeable paint and stains. A choice of silk finish paint and stain colours are available which are spray applied in factory controlled conditions, providing a smooth, brush-free finish which cannot be achieved under site conditions. This finish is durable and guaranteed for 10 years (opaque finish) and 6 years (translucent finish).*
Finishing options: Fully finished, fully glazed frames are available in five stain colours and our new extended range of ten opaque colours as standard. Other RAL colours can be matched and are available at extra cost.
The use of laminated Redwood Nordic Pine in the construction of all our main frame and sash components reduces the likelihood of resin stains, meaning we are now able to offer extended guarantees on both our opaque and translucent finishes.
We use stainless steel corrugated sash and frame clips in the assembly process. This eliminates all pinholes in the window frame and sash, and provides a smoother appearance on the finished products. Glazing beads are pinned to the sash using a 21-gauge galvanised micro brad, reducing the appearance of pinholes on the glazing bead.

Base Coat Primed Finishing Option
Frames are ailable with either base coat stain or primed, and either glazed or unglazed.
Twin Coat Finishing Option
Two flow-applied coats with a ‘de-nib’ process in between. This provides the perfect surface for final on-site applications of paint or stain. Twin coat frames are also available glazed or unglazed.
Glazing beads are pinned to the sash using a 21 gauge galvanised micro brad, reducing the appearance of pinholes on the glazing bead. The windows are then glazed with 24mm sealed units using best practice drained and vented glazing techniques. This provides both security and a longer life guaranteed for 10 years.
To help maintain the superior quality of this product, Howarth has designed a thermally efficient, cavity closing, brickwork former.
** All guarantees given in this website are subject to limitations and are strictly dependent upon compliance with manufacturer’s usage and maintenance instructions. These are available upon request.
Anti Capillary Gap

Both vertical glazing beads and vertical external plant-on bars have an anti capillary gap created where they meet the drained and vented bottom bead. This design minimises the chance of moisture uptake through the exposed endgrain, reducing the likelihood of degradation to both timber and paint finish.
The Highest Standards
As a founder member of the British Woodworking Federation’s Timber Window Accreditation Scheme, we can assure our customers of the highest levels of product performance, durability and manufacturing standards.
All Howarth windows are covered by this scheme, which incorporates third party quality inspection and product guarantees.

Resin Inhibitor Treatment
For longer lasting good looks and to maintain a quality appearance .Howarth Winds and Doors have after fter extensive research added a evolutionary new resin inhibitor product to its base coat painted and fully finished timber window ranges. This significantly reduces the degree of resin staining around the knots.
One of the first treatments of its kind to be launched in the UK, Larco’s DK5 paint system is incorporated in both the base and top coat layer of paint, and provides a radically effective solution to the problem of resin migration.
The resin inhibitor system has been developed by Danish high performance coating specialist Larco, and the impressive results mean a considerable leap forward for the timber window industry. Independent research by Swedish experts backs the Howarth findings, and confirms that windows treated with the new system withstand years of prolonged and intense exposure to UV rays.
NOTE: Although resin staining is significantly reduced via the use of our resin inhibitor paint system, the microporous nature of the long life paint system means that it can still occur. To minimise this, wash frames down using a Ph neutral detergent (eg. washing up liquid) and warm water to remove any site contamination or dirt. This should be removed from the frames prior to handover to the occupier. If any resin staining is present it should be removed at this time using a cloth dampened with methylated spirit.
