What is Brick Acid?
Brick Acid is a solution made up of between 10% and 30% Hydrochloric Acid, which is effective at dissolving sodium carbonate. This makes it great for cleaning bricks of mortar, and is the main purpose of Brick Acid. It is also good for cleaning dirt from the surface of the bricks, as well as any marks that are left by the mortar.
It will not, however, remove any other kind of stains from the surface, such as paint.
Despite its name, Brick Acid is also effective at removing dirt from other materials, including building tools, pipes and scaffolding; pavements, drives and paving, including patios.
As with most acids, Hydrochloric Acid fizzes when it reacts with the brick which is a good sign that it is working, however it is crucial that you clean the bricks before it stops fizzing, so that the acid doesn’t damage the bricks.
