Lead is a commonly used metal in roofing, because it is a fairly soft metal, which means that it can be shaped to fit the contours of a roof. Not only that, but it also won’t tear whilst being moulded into shape.
Lead can cope with all types of weather from blistering sun, to acid rain, to large amounts of snowfall, plus it is very low maintenance and resistant to corrosion which guarantees a long life. In comparison to modern metals – which only last around 20 years, before they need replacing – Lead can last for several hundred years, before it should need replacing.
Howarth Timber & Building Supplies offer a range of Lead Roofing products including Flashing (weatherproofing) and accessories.
