What are Small Mouldings?
The term “small mouldings” refers to a large assortment of products such as handrailing, dado rail, picture rail, cornice, quadrant and scotia, that are typically a decorative, ornamental or architectural feature that are typically made from redwood or oak, however other materials are often used. They can serve a variety of purposes, including:
- Covering unsightly areas such as gaps where different surfaces meet, and/or making them look more attractive
- Making the area look more attractive, offering fine detailing that is carved or embossed into the wood
- Adding little details that pulls a room together, offering both practicality and attractiveness

Hardwood Mouldings are supplied unfinished, meaning that they are not treated with any stains, oils or finishes. This allows you to choose your own treatments to achieve the perfect finish to suit your tastes and requirements.
Veneered MDF mouldings, for example are an alternative to solid timber mouldings that are a great choice if you are looking for something that looks exactly like solid timber but without the defects that are often associated with it. As such veneered MDF mouldings won’t twist or warp, which will save you a lot of time and energy.
