At Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, we offer Transformers that are ideally used alongside power tools within the construction industry. There are a wide variety of Transformers available on the market, but they all use the same basic principles that were set out by English Scientist Michael Faraday in 1831.

The purpose of a Transformer is to transfer an electrical current from the mains to the device that you wish to use, by either increasing or decreasing the wattage (this is often referred to as stepping up or stepping down). A Transformer is normally necessary, because the electricity supplied to the mains of most of the UK’s homes and workplaces is just too high for the vast majority of tools and appliances that we use, and therefore converting the electricity to the correct wattage to allow it to function correctly.
