Joint Compound
What is joint compound?
A joint compound is a white powder of primarily gypsum dust mixed with water to form a thick-like consistency. It is then used with paper or fibre joint tape to seal joints between sheets of drywall, ultimately creating a seamless base for paint on interior walls. At Howarth, we have a range of different jointing compounds that are available in a variety of colours to be able to suit to different project needs, such as buff, grey, black, brown, and mushroom. One of the most popular jointing compounds is from the brand SIKA, which is described as a ready to use, self-setting paving compound which is used for advanced durability. Compounds are practical options, so they can be applied quickly to surfaces. You also won’t need to measure or mix any liquids or powders together, as the application is easier than if you were to use a traditional sand or cement-based mortar.
Jointing compounds are suitable for:
- Concrete paving
- Natural stone paving
- Brickwork
- Stonework
