GRP Roofing

GRP Roofing

What is GRP Roofing?

GRP Roofing, or Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic, is an alternative waterproofing system for roofing that is guaranteed for 20 years.

Most commonly used on flat roofing, as well as balconies and walkways, GRP is popular because it doesn't have any seams or joints which prevents leaks from occurring.

GRP Roofing is applied cold, which removes the risks that are often associated with materials that need heat to be applied.

Laying GRP Roofing is a fairly simple process, however, there are a few rules that are recommended to ensure the job is done correctly. As such, if you wish to install GRP by yourself; without the assistance of a professional; we highly recommend attending a training session.

At Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, we offer everything that you’ll need to complete your GRP Roofing including the roofing materials that you’ll need:

  • Roofing Resin, available in 10kg and 20kg, as well as an Extra Cold option

  • Topcoat, available in Graphite Grey and Clear

  • Edge Trims

  • Reinforcement Mats that are available in a standard weight; suitable for most situations and a heavier option for areas such as balconies that might have a higher footfall

  • Bandages

  • Hardener, which is available in a range of strengths, designed to coordinate with the various needs of the different times of the year

  • Acetone

  • Finishing Tissue guarantees that you achieve an attractive finish in areas with a lot of detail

Other tools available that you will need to complete your project include:

  • Mixing Bucket to measure the materials you are using with any additives such as a Hardener

  • Brushes to ensure accuracy to areas that require detailing

  • Rollers to apply materials. Rollers can be fitted to an Extension Pole for ease of use
