Softwood timber Firring or also known as tapers are strips of timber (or a batten) that has been cut at an angle along its length diagonally so that it tapers, with one edge being deeper than the other. An ideal solution for flat roofs as it will allow you to create a slope or fall in your flat roof to help rainwater off, preventing pooling or flooding and protecting the integrity of your roof.
Timber Firring strips are usually made from softwoods such as spruce from Germany or whitewood from Sweden. Using a softwood ensures that they are easy to attach, fix into position and can be cut down to height size and fitted onto your roof joists to create a stable and uniform slope, providing they are set level so that the ceiling is even before any boards are laid. It is important that all cut ends are re-sealed with a proprietary treatment.
The fall of these timbers are 90mm to 3mm across the length of 4.8m.
All our timber has full chain of custody, meaning our timber is sourced responsibly. With responsible sourcing at the heart of what we do, you can trust that our timber meets strict sustainability standards giving you confidence in both the quality of your materials and the environmental impact of your choice.
Please note: Timber and stone are natural materials, and as such, variation in colour, texture, and natural markings is to be expected. We strive to represent our products as accurately as possible through imagery; however, colours and shades may appear differently depending on individual monitor settings such as brightness, temperature, and contrast. These variations are not considered defects.
