C16 graded carcassing is a structural timber commonly used for stud walls, roof and floor joists, and structural joinery. C16 is normally the grade that is produced from faster grown UK timber, however this timber is imported so it is slow grown.
C16 and C24 are strength grades; the higher the grade, the better the load bearing quality it has. C16 is normally the grade that is produced from faster grown UK timber. C24 is a premium product as the wood is slower grown and is also denser. Higher loads and longer spans can be achieved with the use of C24 grade timber often with a smaller cross section.
C16 timber is machined to have rounded edges, smooth faces, and sides, for a more uniform piece of timber. It is kiln dried to minimise moisture content and improve strength and stability. Pressure treatment has been applied with preservatives to improve rotting resistance and protect the carcassing. The finished size you will receive is 45mm x 170mm.
Please note: Timber and stone are natural materials, and as such, variation in colour, texture, and natural markings is to be expected. We strive to represent our products as accurately as possible through imagery; however, colours and shades may appear differently depending on individual monitor settings such as brightness, temperature, and contrast. These variations are not considered defects.
