Stair Parts

Category Information

Whether you are installing a complete new staircase or repairing an existing one, choosing the right stair parts are important. Staircase Parts are just as important as the actual flight because they offer support to the overall structure of the staircase design, whilst ensuring everyone using the stairs is safe. At Howarth, we offer a wide range of components including:

  • Spindles. These are timber posts that are positioned vertically between the handrail and base rail; creating a skeleton effect that offers extra support to the bannister structure whilst being an attractive addition.
  • Handrails. Wooden handrails are the part that many of us will hold on to when we ascend or descend a staircase and essentially run diagonally along with the pitch of your stairs, sitting comfortably above the spindles.
  • Newels. Located at the top and bottom of your staircase bannister, this stair part offers structural support for the handrail, ensuring that it is secure. Whilst being an important part of the structure, newel caps are often chosen as decorative focal points for your stairs.

Our stair parts are available in a variety of options including pine and oak which are ready to paint or stain as you wish. We also have a range of white primed options.

Unsure which stair parts you need for your project? Looking for a little advice? Your nearest branch will be happy to help.
