Howarth Celebrates Four Wins at the TTJ Awards 2026

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have won three awards at the TTJ (Timber Trades Journal) Awards 2026! These awards recognise our commitment to the timber industry and the ongoing development of the business.

What did Howarth Timber & Building Supplies win at the TTJ Awards 2026?

We took home Timber Merchant of the Year, Timber Garden Product Supplier of the Year and the Timber Merchanting Development Award. The wider business, Howarth Timber Group, was also presented with the Gold Award of the night – Timber Trade of the Year!

Our Timber Category Manager, Gary Froggatt, had the honour of collecting all four awards which recognise our achievements across multiple areas of the business, from our day-to-day operations serving customers to the development and investment in our timber offering.

Unlike most traditional mixed merchants, Howarth's roots are firmly entrenched in the timber side of the business, with over 50% of all sales attributed to timber-based products. While the company maintains a core stock range of timber and panel products, branches are encouraged to diversify to meet local market needs, with many developing specialist ranges including Accoya, Tricoya, veneered boards, and other technically specified end-use products such as birch plywood, film-faced phenolic boards, and sawn joinery-grade redwood. Our management team provides the tools and direction, while our people deliver the passion and commitment to get it right first time for the customer. They are, without question, our greatest asset."

Timber Merchant of the Year

With timber being at the heart of our business for generations, we pride ourselves on being timber experts. After over 180 years of supplying a range of timber products, the teams across our branch network have the knowledge and experience to help customers choose the right products for their projects.

This award recognises our commitment to supporting trade professionals, DIY enthusiasts and contractors alike and reminds us that meeting the changing needs of our customers remains at the forefront of our business.

Timber Garden Products Supplier of the Year

We were also thrilled to be awarded Timber Garden Products Supplier of the Year, a brilliant recognition of the range and quality of products that we offer, something we’re always working on developing.

From fencing and sleepers, to decking, cladding and garden structures, our branches supply customers with a variety of timber garden products, no matter the project.

Timber Merchanting Development Award

Howarth was also named the winner of the Timber Merchanting Development Award for the work we completed between September 2024 and June 2026, on strengthening and developing the timber side of our business.

This work included the acquisition of our Sunderland Branch, expanding our build pack division, driving digital discoverability and investment in timber training for our colleagues.

On top of this, we have also worked on expanding our timber offering, implementing specialist timbers such as Accoya, to our range of products. While adding to the products we sell, we’ve also worked on improving the structure and content of our website categories, meaning it is now easier than ever for our customers to shop with us online.

We are honoured to be recognised for our hard work over the past couple of years and we can’t wait to continue developing and growing the business.

Howarth Timber Group named Timber Trader of the Year

The wider business being recognised with the Gold Award for Timber Trader of the Year is a testament to the contributions made by colleagues across the Howarth Timber Group.

It is an achievement that everyone across the Group can be proud of, from our branch and distribution teams to our operations and support functions, this wouldn’t have been possible without them.

We are incredibly proud of our timber heritage and thrilled to be recognised by the industry. A huge thank you to TTJ for the recognition and to our customers and everyone who voted for us here at Howarth.

While we are celebrating these awards, we are also continuing to look to the future and our development efforts don’t stop here! We’re committed to investing in our products, services and people and we will continue striving to provide our customers with the best possible experience.
