Hardwood Timber derives from slow-growing trees that are distinguished by their broad leaves that typically fall off in Autumn. As the wood is grown over a longer period of time than softwoods (which derives from trees that grow quickly), it has had more time to mature and toughen up, meaning that they are generally stronger than softwoods.
Types of Hardwood Timber include:
Ash – commonly used in handles for tools, as well as decking and cladding
Beech – building furniture and tool handles, as well as flooring
Elm – ideal for both interior and exterior furniture
Oak – a high-quality hardwood that is a popular choice for interior furniture, including doors and door linings
Sapele – Similar to Mahogany, used in furniture, including high-end chairs
Teak – A naturally oily timber that is popular for flooring
