What is aggregate?
Aggregate products (also known as ‘aggs’) include decorative aggregates as well as aggregates used in construction.
- Decorative aggregates: Decorative aggregates are small pieces of stone chosen to be an attractive and aesthetically appealing feature, usually within landscaping projects. For example, as plant toppers in flower beds or pots, to create a pathway or driveways, in rockeries and fishponds, and water features. Decorative aggregate stone are also hard wearing and available in a variety of colours.
- Construction aggregates: Construction aggregates (including gravel bulk bags, crushed stone, and sand) are produced from natural sources and typically used as an additive for concrete. Other uses include drainage solutions, filling voids, protecting pipes, and creating a hard-standing surface. They can also be used in water filtration and sewage treatment processes.
What is Type 1 Aggregate?
Type 1 aggregate, commonly referred to as Type 1 Sub-Base, is a specific kind of aggregate material used primarily in construction for laying the foundations of roads, driveways, paths, and other such surfaces.
