Fence Rails
Fence rails and fence palings are available in either a brown or green pressure treatment – this treatment makes the timber last longer and helps to protect against rot, insects and decay. There are a variety of sizing to choose from.
Rails are horizontal between or across fence posts, such as in post and rail fencing. They can also be used to attach fence boards to. Usually post and rail fencing would be selected for fencing that does not require enhanced privacy, such as livestock or field fencing. It is also a great way to section areas of land or create borders between outdoor spaces.
Rails & Palings
Fence rails and fence palings are elements of a fence that strengthen and hold it together structurally.
Fence palings are sawn lengths of treated timber, usually installed vertically along a fence rail to add a decorative touch. When equally spaced they allow air to flow through the fence, reducing the risk of wind damage to the fence. Our Fence Rails and Fence Palings are available in both brown and green pressure treated options, meaning that they are protected against rot and decay for longer life. Brown (tanatone) treatment has a colour additive included in the preservative to build-up the colour of the timber, this is popular because it removes the need to apply a colour finish to achieve the look you are aiming for. Green treated timber is a more natural look, which many people choose to further stain or paint to achieve the desired look.
