What did Howarth Timber & Building Supplies win at the BMJ Awards 2026?

We took home the award for Timber Merchant of the Year and won highly commended for E-Commerce Initiative of the Year. To top off a brilliant run, our Marketing Apprentice, Bethanie Jarvis-Green was also awarded Apprentice/Trainee of the Year!

Bethanie, along with Emily Green, our SEO & Content Marketing Manager, had the pleasure of collecting the awards, which recognise our commitment to both the timber industry and creating a better online experience for our customers.

“I’m delighted that Howarth Timber has been named Timber Merchant of the Year and also received a Highly Commended recognition for E-Commerce of the Year. These awards are a fantastic reflection of the hard work, dedication and collaboration across our teams, particularly in enhancing how we merchandise our timber products and strengthen our online presence.

Overall, these achievements are something the whole business can be proud of, and we’re honoured to have been recognised alongside so many other names within the industry!”

- Emily Green, SEO & Content Marketing Manager

Timber Merchant of the Year

Timber has been at the core of our business for over 180 years, and it’s great to see that our knowledge and expertise is recognised across the industry, amongst some incredible other companies. Across our branch network, our teams are dedicated to helping our customers find the right products for their projects, no matter the size.

This recognition reflects our commitment to developing as a business, evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. We will continue to ensure that being a knowledgeable and dependable business remains a key priority to us.

Apprentice/Trainee of the Year

Our people are at the heart of what we do. And this award highlights the value of apprenticeships and how they provide the opportunity to build a career within the industry, which is something we at Howarth are incredibly proud to be a part of.

Bethanie's award submission centred around her involvement in multi-channel marketing campaigns across the business, developing her creativity, commercial thinking and ability to deliver measurable value to the business.

E-Commerce Initiative of the Year (Highly Commended)

We were also delighted to receive the highly commended award for E-Commerce Initiative of the Year. To be recognised for our local SEO efforts is especially rewarding, as it acknowledges the ongoing investment we've made in improving the customer journey and adapting to an increasingly digital and AI-driven landscape.

We’re committed to making shopping with us easier, ensuring customers can quickly find the products they need by strengthening our local presence and creating a more seamless journey between our digital channels and branch network.

“We’re delighted to have won two awards at the BMJ 2026 Awards, and I’m particularly pleased for Beth Jarvis-Green, who was named Apprentice/Trainee of the Year. It’s brilliant to see one of our young, up-and-coming colleagues recognised by the industry and I know how much work Beth has put into her development. Winning Timber Merchant of the Year made it a great afternoon for the whole business too. Both awards are ultimately about our people – developing, working together and doing a great job for our customers every day.”

- Paul Bullivant, Commercial Director

These achievements are an amazing opportunity to celebrate our journey, but we continue to focus on what comes next for us as a business. We will continue to invest in everything from our people to our products and services.

With more than 180 years of experience behind us, we’re looking forward to seeing where the future takes us!
