About this product...
Western Red Cedar is a premium timber product that is perfect for multiple applications including screening, slatted fencing, contemporary fencing and cladding external buildings.
Western Red Cedar is one of the lightest softwoods, with a oven-dry conditions holds a density of approximately 21 pounds per cubic foot with a relative density (specific gravity) of 0.32. Comparative oven-dry densities of cedar and some other softwood species are given in the Table 1 below. What this means is that western cedar at the lower density enhances its insulation value and makes it an easy wood to handle.
Cedar has a very low shrinkage factor and is superior to all other coniferous woods in its resistance to warping, twisting, and checking. With its straight grain and uniform texture, Western Red Cedar is among the easiest and most rewarding woods to work with.
