Cladding

What is shiplap cladding?

Shiplap cladding is made from wooden panels that overlap, creating a smooth and flat surface. This design makes it far more weather resistant than traditional overlap methods, helping protect buildings from the elements.

What is cladding used for?

Timber cladding is a versatile option for both internal and external applications on domestic and commercial properties. There are many reasons why people choose cladding, from style to performance.

Benefits of cladding:

  • Appearance: Timber is naturally attractive, with warm colouring and unique grain patterns that add character.
  • Weather resistance: Designed to protect against rain and wind, timber cladding reinforces a building from the outside in.
  • Thermal insulation: It helps retain heat inside, reducing energy consumption and keeping your home or workplace warmer.
  • Acoustic insulation: Timber naturally absorbs sound, lowering noise levels that pass through the structure.
  • Environmentally friendly: Our timber cladding is sustainably sourced and recyclable, with a low carbon footprint compared to other materials.

Types of cladding:

We supply a wide range of high-quality timber cladding boards in several popular species, including:

  • Cedar
  • Redwood
  • Larch
  • Pine
  • Ash

PTGV

This traditional style of timber cladding has a tongue and groove profile with a v-joint and smooth, planed finish. Each board interlocks securely, creating a strong and resilient system.

Shiplap cladding

Similar to tongue and groove, shiplap cladding boards fit tightly together for strength and reliability. The difference lies in the profile: the slanted design allows rainwater to run off easily, enhancing durability.

Why choose us for timber cladding?

Frequently Asked Questions

How much cladding do I need?
To work out how much cladding you will need, work out your area in square metres, then calculate the linear metres. This will then help you decide how many boards you need.
How to fit tongue & groove cladding?
To install tongue and groove cladding, the first thing you need to do is to decide how high up your wall you want your panelling to go, then, cut some battens to the overall length and fix to the wall top and bottom. Next, cut the individual lengths of the panelling to the decided height and then pin the panelling to the batons. Continue this until every panel is straight and even.
