Frequently Asked Questions

How to install garden lighting
To install garden lighting, first make sure that the mains power is switched off. Then, start drilling a hole where you want your light fitting to appear and place a plastic conduit inside the drill hole and feed your cable through. Once you’ve done that, make sure all the cable cores are connected to the right terminals and fix the light to your outer wall, applying a silicone sealant to prevent any moisture from getting into the fixture. After that, run the light cable back to a suitable place (the circuit cable should have a four-terminal junction box) and begin installing a switch indoors to run a two-core-and-earth cable back to the position of the junction box at a length of 1mm2. Finally, isolate the circuit and then cut through the main circuit cable to make the appropriate connections to the junction box. Your garden lighting is now finished and ready to use.
How to fit decking lights
To fit decking lights, first start by measuring and clearly marking out the points of where you will be drilling. This will ensure that you stay as accurate as possible and that your decking lights are positioned and spaced correctly. Once you’ve done that, position your lights where you’d like them to be, and begin removing all the necessary deck boards so that you can feed the lighting cables through the holes. Using a 24mm drill bit, drill the holes in the joists so the cables can be fed through and connected. Place the light fittings into position, and then connect each head to the next in the series. Once done, add the blanking plug to cover the last socket, and place the mains cable and driver inside the decking so that they will not be visible once you’ve secured the boards back into position. This is when you can switch the lights on to test that they work. If they work, you can secure the boards back into position. Your decking lights are now finished and ready to use.
